Jean-Morlet chair > GENEVIEVE WALSH - LUISA PAOLUZZI (semester 1, 2018)
The aim of this one-week school is to bring PhD students and recent post-docs up-to-date on current research happening in Geometric Group Theory and 3-manifolds. We will focus in particular on the interplay between the two topics, where the theory of hyperbolic 3-manifolds is an important influence in the modern theory of hyperbolic groups and their relatives.
The proposed format is 4 mini-courses. Prof. Genevieve Walsh will give 5 morning lectures, and the remaining three speakers will give 3 afternoon lectures each. (2 each day) There will also be 1 afternoon allotted for discussion and a small period for contributed talks on Friday afternoon.
